Sprung

How high can you go?

Home

Welcome! Sprung is a little game written for the Swingame 2010 Competition. It was inspired by games such as Icy Tower and Doodle Jump and created with the help of many open source tools (a full list of which may be found in the credits).

Vision

The main idea behind Sprung was to create a small, highly polished, simple-yet-addictive game. In order to achieve this goal, the number of controls were kept to a minimum and the aim kept clear. However, variation is provided through randomly generated game objects and changing scenery which inspires the gamer to greater heights. Another goal in the development of Sprung was to prove that free software can be used to create fun, working games. A list of the software I used to develop Sprung is available in the credits.

The genre of "vertical platformer" was chosen for its appeal to a wide audience - both experienced and inexperienced gamers can get something out of Sprung. I also felt that vertical platformers are not as widely available as they could be, so Sprung is not adding to an already flooded genre.
